There are two major types, those that are simple reference and are introductions of Microsoft Access, and complete reference guides.  If you plan to build professional business databases you'll need to get a complete reference. If you want to build basic and simple databases or get an easy introduction, the shorter books may suffice.  The basic books are also useful to help you navigate and be more productive using Microsoft Access databases that others have built.
