|I haven't kept up
with the Yes releases the past few years. A studio album,
expanded versions of Songs from Tsonga. The live album
tours. Also, there are some Blu-Ray album releases of The
Yes Album, Close to the Edge, and Relayer.
I hope I can get back to add some details of
these releases. One quick comment, from
the above, for those with good audio equipment or those who
want all of run throughs and rarities from these classic
albums, they are worth while. The Yes Album seems to
offer the most supplemental material.
What prompted an updated to my Yes page
update is the live release of the fall 1972 tour - Progeny.
website has all of the specifics, which is basically the liner
notes that's included with the box set.
The material is most of the classic Yessongs,
but that release also had some songs from the Fragile
tour. The problem with Yessongs, is the cd does not
Progeny does sound much better than Yessongs.
However, I was hoping for even more fidelity. I played two of
the sets and the separation of the instruments is very nice.
You can really hear Steve Howe's amazing chops. He's really at
his peak here, and that is why you want this release, even if
you have the songs in ten other releases. Rick Wakeman is very
well represented in the mix and the instrumental hand offs
between Wakeman and Howe and joyful. To me, it seems Chris
Squire is a bit low during much of the mix.

Yes: Live at Montreux 2003
In 2003 the band made their first appearance at
the Montreux Festival, despite having a long association with the
town itself (they recorded there frequently in the seventies). It
was a triumphant night and is regarded by both the band members and
fans as probably the finest Yes gig ever to be filmed. It has been
much in demand and is now finally cleared for release.
