Django Reinhardt Sessions and Discography
1949 - '53

Rome 1949
The Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli reunion  in January and February of 1949 is incredible.  It is still that some wonderful combination of Stephane and Django soloing, but with a different instrumental approach. This line-up features piano, drums, and bass, resulting into a more of a rag-time sound.  The Fremeaux series contains all of the material, but six songs that were not released, supposedly due to quality.  Vol. 16 has 13 tracks, Vol. 17 has 40, and it concludes on Vol. 18 with 11 tracks.

March 10, 1953
Excluding solo sessions Django's music typically included two or more soloists. One exception is March 10, 1953 session, where  Django is the is the only soloist. Sure there are a few instances when Django would wipe the sweat from his palm after a ferocious solo, where the pianist would fill the space briefly. Beside that, it is all Django.

This session is a one-of-a-kind, and showcases Django on electric guitar with a solid back-up unit and nobody to share the spotlight with.
