Ah, what a tantalizing glimpse. Or is it pretty much the whole show?
That seems unlikely. but there's no denying the good humor,
happy-vibe energy of this 55-minute snippet. And such great sound!
Lead vocals are evenly
distributed -- Jerry, Pig, And Bobby each get two, and there are two
ensemble vocal tunes. Good Lovin is cut, but not until they're
riffing their way out of the jam anyhow -- seems we get the best
part. And a 1970 Dancin follows, so who cares?
I wondered why I hadn't
marked any songs as highlights, and it's because there aren't any
really -- just the fact of it is a sort of highlight, but nothing
stands out. Still, it puts a smile on my face.
Not a full meal in itself,
but certainly a great appetizer -- for example, for 1-23-70, which
DOES have great highlights: Good Lovin & a fiery Other One come
to mind. And I just love hearing Pigpen heckle Bobby's yellow dog
story :-)
