Eric
Clapton’s Unplugged was part of the MTV series of concerts
that were very popular in the 1990’s. One of the best from that
group is Eric Clapton’s; it could be argued that he popularized
the series. The album includes his hit “Tears in Heaven,”
several traditional blues tunes, and several pop-oriented material
that is all showcased exquisitely. Eric Clapton’s Unplugged also
includes a remake of the classic “Layla.” As the original song
is one of the all time classics in rock music it was a risky move.
Surprisingly, the remake is quite good, though, I’ll take the
original any day.
Eric
Clapton’s Unplugged is an outstanding album, his best since
the release of Slowhand in 1977. ~
