From
the Cradle
Eric
Clapton’s From the Cradle while technically a live album
because it was recorded in concert seems more like a studio LP. Much
of this CD was recorded at the Fillmore West in San Francisco. I was
fortunate to know some people working at the venue and I got a job
that night enabling me to witness portions of this historic event.
From
the Cradles is an album of cover versions of musicians that
influenced Eric Clapton, such as Willie Dixon, Elmore James, and
several less known songwriters. His back up band is super and the
arrangements are top notch. He incorporates horns on many tracks,
and adds harmonica arrangements perfectly to others. From the
Cradle includes some of Eric Clapton’s best guitar playing of
his career, period. He
demonstrates his ability to solo in a variety of different styles,
and showcases his slide guitar skills on many tracks.
Eric
Clapton’s From the Cradle is unlike any other CD he
recorded as a solo composer, but does offer resemblances to his
sound is his stint with John Mayall. ~
