One
Way Out
From
the Allman Brothers web-site: "The CD follow-up to last
year's Beacon Theatre DVD. Eighteen tracks, performed with an
ever-present nod to the past but with a clear direction to the
future, you need this one in your CD rack. Recorded during the ABB's
amazing Beacon run of 2003, with over 65 minutes of incendiary music
not heard on the DVD."
As I
type, the Allman Brothers Band are in the midst of their 2004
performances at the Beacon. So far the have played some new tracks:
"Afro
Blue," "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,"
"Franklin's Tower," "Don't Think Twice, It's All
Right" "Why Does Love Got to be So Sad," and "Key to the Highway." The last two tracks are on Derek and
Dominoes classic album Layla
and Assorted Love Songs. A few guests have appeared too
including Thom Doucette, Chris Robinson, Susan Tedeschi, Rob Barraco,
and Kofi Burbridge.
I
opted for the DVD. The sound quality and picture is very good. I'll
eventually get a review posted.
