Gold review
The
casual fan may be satisfy their Allman Brothers Band needs with Gold. It is a two-disc compilation from their
early years through Enlightened Rouges. The compilation is
the same as the expanded version of The Road Goes on Forever.
It includes a great sampling of both live and studio
recordings. It is certainly an exceptional introduction to The Allman
Brothers for new listeners, and a great way to replace record
collections.
The
Allman Brothers Band Gold includes all but one track from the their
debut album, more than half of Idlewood South, all but two
tracks from Eat a Peach (including "Mt. Jam," which
is on the expanded releases Fillmore), and
all but two songs from Brothers and Sisters. Further, there
are several tracks from the Fillmore East, one track from Wipe
Your Windows, three from Enlightened Rouges, and a few
more. Clearly an exceptional value.
The obvious
complement to Gold is one of the expanded The
Fillmore Concerts.
This CD includes everything
from A Decade of Hits plus
14 additional songs.
